San Francisco

Day 7

Phone Fucked! Illness

Woke up to a glorious day in San Francisco, all amazing weather so far.  Anyway before I set out I booted my phone up to check my messages.  The all of sudden while typing a message the phone switched off.  No nothing to do with the battery, the phone just wont get past the boot up screen. Its well and truly fucked.

Anyway headed down to fisherman's Wharf, where we headed along the pier and saw the sealions

Alcatraz in the distance, we are visiting there in a couple of days.

The Harbour

In the afternoon, it really hotted up, shorts and t-shirt weather.  Anyway, we headed to cafe and was not feeling great.  So headed back for couple of hours rest.  My fears were confirmed, full on cold/ man flu!  I wonder if I ring up work, if I can get it as sick leave! Hmmm might try it.

In  the evening headed to a local bar and got drunk on 3 dollar beers, watched baseball and chatted to some friendly americans.

I also ordered a new phone via amazon, hopefully it should be delivered on the 23rd to the hotel. which is also my birthday.  Right off out to ride over the golden gate bridge, despite being ill.  Yes what a hero!

New York to San Francisco.

Day 6

Cat loose on the airport!

A normal visit to the airport was made very interesting, after a man was taking a cat through the airport. He had to take it out of the basket so it could go through the x ray machine.  The cat was initially very well behavied, however it got a panic on and attacked its owner. The cat caame loose and bolted across security causing a bit of a panic.  What was slightly odd was the guy transporting him was in a wheelchair, however when the cat escaped he got up pretty quick and chased after it!

Grand Central Station

Currently writing this on the plane, and some little (american  brat)  infront of me insits on having their chair all the way back. There is no need, although the odd nudge in the back of the chair keeps them from getting too much sleep.  This Flight takes forever, one of the longest we will make on this round the world trip.

New York

Day 5

Any ID!!!

So last night we went out for a meal and I heard  ' exuse me sir do you have any id? otherwise i can not serve you alcohol'. Those are words I thought I would never hear again.  I said I dont have any ID!!!.  After a couple of minutes  the waitress came back to me and said ' dont worry I have spoke to my manger and I have said I can clearly see they are over 21!!!!! so I will serve them.  Thanks, wish she had just left it at, you have no ID, so you can not be served. Either way the meal was amazing.  If your are ever in New York head down to 50th street, 2nd Av and you will fnd loads of nice bars and restaurants.

Anyway headed off to see the final few things that we  had missed out on so far

Empire state building

Maceys

Headed to the amaxing central park for lunch, well we tokk a subaway with us.  It was pretty cold today, more of the kind of weather you wuold expect for Ne York at this tie of year, still sunny tho.

Then a trip to the Nation History Museum, I managed to talk my way in for free, although I came out quite quickly as claire was left outside.

In the evening headed out for  few beers, watched the NFL and chatted to some locals,  It was a very good night.

New York

Day 4

China Town, Freedom Tower

Another glorious day in New York, I can certainly get use to this.  It was another early satrt, this was down to me not sleeping properly and claire being ill!  We weere up and about at 630 am.  Today we headed off on the tube to China Town and little Italy.  I will be honest and it was not that impressive. Infact you would be amzed how hard it was to get a cappuchino in little Italy.  One place, the service was terrible iniitially they were rude, then  they said we could not sit outide unless we were eating.  I could understand if they were busy, but the place was dead only us in it. So we just got up and left. In the end we found a one dollar pizza place, it was amazing.

China Town

Little Italy

As we were in the area we heded to the September 11th memorial site.  I was really glad we went, the Freedom Tower that has been built is very impressive.  There are also two huge water features/ waterfalls that had built built on the site of the twin towers.  The water runs into, what looks like a bottomless pitt.  Very impressive monument and well worth a visit.

Freedom Tower

Huge Waterfall

Shows how big the area is.

We also had a walk down Wall Street

Paid a visit to Bloomingdales and Scwartz Tow Store on 5th Avenue, and as Saturday night we will be hitting the town later.

New York

Day 3

Boat Trip

woke up to another amazing hot day in New York, I am not sure if it is normally this hot I guess we have just been lucky.  Today's main agenda was a 3 hour boat trip around Manhattan, at 40 dollars each I was hoping it would be good.  To be honest, it was worth every penny and we got to see some amazing views of the city.

In the evening we just had a quiet night, as we realise we cant go out wining and dining every night, as we are away for 3 months, and would go broke pretty quick.  We will definitely be out tomorrow though.

New York

Day 2

Broken Phone!!!!

so we were up and out really early today, and we decided to have a walk around New York.  It was chucking it down first thing but that did not stop us. After a breakfast at a local diner, we headed to the rockafella centre.  Then onto times square, which was pretty impressive, tons on neon lights

The weather quickly changed and it was really hot, claire got sunnburnt a little.   We headed off down 5th Avenue up to central park.  It is much bigger than, I thought, we got lost in the place.

After picking up a hotdog from a local vendor, we headed into Tiffanys.  There was absolutely no chance of me buying anything in there.  I did see f the Tiffany diamonds though, priceless apparently.

When I got back to the hotel, I realised that my phone was not working correctly! There is a problem with the wifi. It connects intermittently, infact it does not work at all.  I am going to have to buy a new phone, which is a expense I do not need.  Lal if you are reading this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the evening I was ill, bad tummy.  So one day in I have been ill and have a broken phone!

USA

New York

Day 1

The trip got off to a great start, we got a free upgrade on the plane to some fancy seats.  This was mainly due to claire being upset and as she hates flying and then dropping a hint that it was our honeymoon.  I  wonder if I can get anymore free upgrades

After a 7 hour flight we arrived in New York, and we were wrecked.  After finding a cab we made it to the hotel.  The Waldorf Estoria, in centre of Manhattan.  This place was paid for by my sister as a present and it costs a fortune!!!!  Thanks Steph,  you never have to buy me a birthday or Christmas present ever again.

After getting some free drinks, we headed to bed, absolutely wrecked!

Paris

Day 4

Valentines Day - Paris!! officially in the good book forever.

No trip to Paris would be complete without a trip up the Eiffel Tower, especially on Valentines Day. The tower is a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be.  We managed to get there early and beat the queues for the lift, after a 20 min wait we headed up to the main viewing deck, and got some pretty impressive views.  We decided not to pay extra and go to the top, which I kind of regret.

View from main station

In the evening we took a stroll a long one of the main bridges in paris, where you can attach a couples  lock.  So we decided that we add our own to the collection, its the silver one. We then through the key into the river, which is apparently tradition.

France

Paris

Day 3

Went to Notre Dame today and there was a unexpected display!  While wandering around we could hear a commotion coming from the front of the church. To my surprise there was a naked protest, by a group of woman. Luckily I had camera, sadly the flash and focus failed me!

You kind of make out the image!

Notre Dame

In the evening we headed to the Latin Quarter, where you could find really good food that was very cheap. I would highly recommend eating there should you ever be in Paris.

France

Paris

Day 2

Today we took in some of the citys major attractions, The Lourve being the main one.

The main attraction in the Lourve is the Mona Lisa, it is pretty small in real life.  There were tons of people crowding round it!

Also Checked out the Orangerie

France

Paris

Day 1

We arrive in Paris and there is a lot of snow! However the queue to get on the bus was absolute joke, surprise surprise the French were having another strike!

No snow on the photo, I realise this.
