Day 45 

Halfway!!! Time flies

As we were shattered, not due to our excessive partying in the casino, more to the fact that place we are staying is next to a very busy road and we got no sleep -it might be a million pound pad with great views of Darling harbour but it is also the area just outside the CBD where pubs and bars aren't restricted by the recent legislation changes on closure times.


After dragging ourselves out of bed we headed down to the shopping district.  We visited the westfield shopping centre as well as tons of other shops and came across a variety of christmas trees,

.Next up was a visit to the Rocks.  This is a small shopping area, just to the left of circular quay (sydney harbour).  It is full of cool little shops and narrow streets, although not as big as expected, some reviews suggest the ongoing refurbishment and development of the area is undermining the old charm, it was nice and a quiet escape from the CBD and led to the observatory.

After a long climb up some steps we made it to the observatory (currently undergoing refurbishment)  and surrounding park which overlooks the harbour and provides great views of the bridge to the right, the city towards Darling harbour and over the water to Funland.  The park was also a good place for people watching place as it appeared to be home to several outdoor fitness classes and did have some exercise bar areas.  We were trying to work out how they got the energy to exercise in the midday heat as we sat annoying them with our huge icecreams and subways (joke!)

After taking in the view and getting our energy back, we headed back round to Darling via Kings Wharf, which has a range of nice bars and eateries all filled with city workers!
